Hello!

welcome to my world

Hi, I’m Sandra Julian

the founder of Design Vibrance! I’ve been a health advocate for most of my life and have worked in the health care industry for almost 30 years.

I grew up on a farm in the foothills of the great smokey mountains of North Carolina, less than four hours from the Atlantic ocean, and that lifestyle inspires me to this day. Walking and running the countryside with our pets and playing with my brother and friends from church and school "outside", where mom always directed us, was a daily occurrence. There were large family gatherings with tables full of homemade southern food, potluck dinners at the church where everyone brought their favorite homemade dish, mom and I baked homemade desserts in the kitchen every week and we all ate home grown/home cooked food from the garden on a daily basis. That’s all I knew, it’s just the way it was. We rarely “ate out”.

The occasional trip into town with daddy to run errands followed by a BBQ sandwich with sliced pickles and coleslaw at City BBQ, and the even less frequent family dinners at the “fish camp” where we always ordered fried flounder - mine with ketchup, of course - were treats for us.

The wooded mountains were a haven for me but I also loved the nearby ocean and beaches. There were family vacations every summer, trips with friends from high school and college. So many memories of “shagging” (that would be dancing!) to Jimmy Buffet on beach front patios in the evening, hours spent swimming in the salty water, walking and running in the moist air with mesmerizing waves washing up on our bare feet, ending every day with a meal of fresh fish and one more stroll in the cool sand after dark. It was a time of wonder and true connection to the earth. I lived in New England during my 20’s reveling in the coasts of Maine and New Hampshire, then L.A. and spent a lot of time on the beaches there - so the ocean has always been a big part of my life.

Those were also the years when creativity just - was. Drawing and music specifically - piano and singing. Athletic ability emerged with coaching after being “recruited” (because of my height) for the high school and then college basketball teams, and with all the time in nature - it’s when I learned to love silence. From a young age I contemplated life in the increasingly confusing world I was growing into, and the many quiet moments sought out while walking the farm, the beach or when tucked away in my bedroom on the backside of the house - were a refuge.

I still walk and run in nature and cook healthy food every day (though now mostly organic!), love biking, hiking, strength training, snow mobiling & swing dancing, time at our Minnesota lakes and the ocean when I travel, am an artist and crave and nurture silence as many moments as I can every day. It’s a fertile place of creativity, connection and restoration for me.

  • LIFE SCHOOL - In my early 20’s I realized doors/choices were appearing that “I” didn’t seem to have imagined. Where did they come from? I wasn’t sure but I often noticed them when I was quiet. After pondering, if it felt right and I made the choice to go through the door, I usually saw other options open as well and often the need for more training. A learning process, a forward motion - moving me beyond what I’d known - had been initiated for sure, and this required a plan, a bridge, a map - a loose, strategic, design to get from where I was to where I was going. My desire and, most importantly, continued willingness to be open, to learn and grow, to bring in mentor’s and teachers as guides to push the edges of my comfort zone, to take steps courageously through trusting the process - continues to expand my life, awareness, vitality & vibrance in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

This whole life long journey started in the beauty, silence and space of the farm, the smokey mountains and the beaches of the Atlantic ocean when I was a child, and the experiences I had there still inspire and inform my life and lifestyle. Though my awareness continues to open, and my palate and cooking style have expanded, that rich, beautiful & confusing time was the beginning of my training. It pushed me to question and created a desire to look for more. I will forever be grateful.

A BIT MORE

A lot of my family is creative - art, music, design - so it comes naturally, but it wasn’t always available to me and wasn’t always developed. As I’ve continued the 30 year process of “unlearning” who I thought I was supposed to be, I’ve discovered that I have A LOT of interests, things I care about, and my creativity is thriving. So as well as working in the health field, I’m an artist - very visual, arty & techy - a professional photographer - www.sandrajulian.com, I create video for businesses, am a graphic and website designer, a long time musician and songwriter, I love beauty, am completely inspired by nature, am a BIG time animal lover, and soon to be author. Finally I am free within myself and I am driven - really for the first time in my life. Driven by my desire to create, by beauty, excellence and the need to be of service.

My hope is that by sharing my story, I can inspire you in some way to make choices that allow you to live a healthier, happier, more vibrant life you love for yourself and your family.

“Sandra IS VERY INSIGHTFUL AND INTUITIVE. DURING OUR SESSION SHE LISTENED QUIETLY to a situation I was really struggling with, THEN ASKED IF SHE COULD OFFER SOMETHING. SHE WENT DIRECTLY TO THE HEART OF THE PROBLEM, CLEARLY IDENTIFIed THE ISSUES AND HELPed ME SEE BOTH SIDES. IT WAS IMMENSELY HELPful, allowing ME to get OUT OF MY HEAD and TO BEGIN PROCESSING and healing THE SITUATION WITH MY HEART. ”

My Approach

Health for me continues to be a path of self discovery that needs to be adjusted over time as my body changes and it’s created by far more than the food I eat. It’s a more wholistic, multi-dimentional approach that requires exploration of my physical, mental, emotional & spiritual needs on an ongoing basis. This mix of lived experience and learned information - continues to be incredibly transformational. I use this same approach to guide my clients along their own path of self-discovery to reach their individual health goals.

We are all unique

We are all individual and unique with different experiences, family histories and health goals. So, what works for me or someone else, may not work for you.

A Plan Just for you

Together we will uncover your health goals and put a customized, achievable plan in place to help you reach those goals and improve the quality of your life.
